A different kind
of intimacy
therapy

Warm. Honest. Occasionally funny.
Always in your corner.

Whether it's your sex life, your relationship, your gender journey, your kink. Or all of the above, and possibly a few things besides. I'm Sam Jones, a specialist psychosexual, GSRD and BDSM-aware therapist based on the Wirral. I've been in this world for nearly two decades. I've heard it all, I'm not shocked by any of it, and I'm definitely not going to judge you for it. Online UK-wide or in person. No jargon. No uncomfortable couch.

Why The Art of Intimacy

This is the kind of therapy
most people are too afraid
to even Google

Sex. Gender. Kink. BDSM. Relationships that don't fit the template. These are the conversations most therapists aren't trained to have — and yet somehow they're the ones that matter most. Funny that.

I've spent nearly two decades creating a space where nothing is too weird, too complex, or too embarrassing to say out loud. Whether you're navigating sexual difficulties, exploring your gender, deep in the kink world, trans, non-binary, polyamorous. Or just feeling like your love life could use a bit of a shake-up. You're in the right place.

Rare dual specialism in the UK

Very few therapists in the UK hold both a postgraduate psychosexual qualification and a specialist GSRD diploma, plus three years inside an actual gender identity clinic, in the Northwest. That combination is basically unicorn territory.

Lived experience, not just training

I was always seen as a tomboy when I was younger. Now I identify as gender fluid. Then in my late 40s my sexuality shifted and I now identify as a gay woman. I am not an outside observer of these communities. I am part of them. Which means you won't be spending your session explaining the basics.

No therapy clichés here

Warm, direct, occasionally funny, and completely non-judgemental. No stuffy office, no awkward silences, no nodding and saying "and how does that make you feel?" Online UK-wide or face-to-face on the Wirral. Therapy on your terms.

What I Can Help With

Four areas of
deep expertise

You can focus on one, mix and match, or bring all four into the room. There are no boxes here — and honestly, no issue too complex, too niche, or too "is this normal?"

Psychosexual Therapy

AWOL desire? Painful sex? Mismatched libidos? Sexual anxiety? The stuff that's really hard to say out loud, even to the person you share a bed with. This is what I do. Have done for nearly two decades. Let's talk about it.

Relationship Therapy

Feeling like you're in a rerun of the same argument? Or like you've become more like co-parents than partners? All relationship structures welcomed — couples, throuples, and beyond. Let's write a new chapter.

GSRD, Kink & Alternative Relationships

Kink, BDSM, fetish, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, queer identities. Pink Therapy GSRD Diploma qualified, BDSM-aware, kink-affirming, and completely non-pathologising. Nothing on the menu is off limits.

Gender Therapy

Trans, non-binary, gender fluid, gender questioning — wherever you are on your journey. Three years NHS gender identity clinic experience, plus my own lived gender story. Affirming, experienced, no waiting list, no gatekeeping.

Samantha Jones – Psychosexual and GSRD Therapist, The Art of Intimacy

"Therapy that fits your life — not the other way round"

About Me

Gloriously unique.
Thoroughly qualified.

I'm Sam Jones. I live on the Wirral, Merseyside. Mum of four (adults now, thankfully). Two dogs and two cats. I identify as gender fluid and gay, which as it turns out, makes me extremely useful to anyone who thought they had themselves figured out.

I've been working in psychosexual and relationship therapy since 2007, mostly in the NHS, including three years at an NHS gender identity clinic. I have training and knowledge (and not just from books and courses!) in BDSM, kink, fetish, and every combination of relationship structure you can think of. Four formal qualifications and years of NHS clinical experience. Loads of CPD. And a supervisor I speak to monthly, because good therapy requires good support, for both of us.

I bring all of that, plus a generous sprinkling of humour, into every session. Because therapy really doesn't have to feel like a formal audit of your soul.
